Placing an Order Online:
Browse our catalog:
Our catalog is divided into several categories. Each
category has several
pages that are navigated
by using the page menu
at the bottom of each
page, and you may switch
categories by using the
menu at the left side of
each page. Each item has
a small picture and
short description.
Clicking on the small
picture brings up a
window with a larger
picture and more
options. Fill in the
quantity of each coleus
you wish to order and
click "Add To Cart" to fill your
shopping cart with the
coleus that you would
like to purchase.
View your shopping
cart: At any point
you may click the
Shopping Cart button and review the
contents of your
shopping cart. Items may
be removed, quantities
may be updated, and
the shopping cart may be
saved for later (you
must create an account
to save your cart). At
this point you may
continue shopping or
click the Checkout
button to place your
order.
Checkout: There
are two checkout
options. Express
checkout allows an order
to be placed without
creating an account. The second option is to
create an account.
Creating an account has
several advantages. Your
order history will be
stored so you can access
it in the future.
Your account may have
more than one shipping
address. This is useful
if you would like to
purchase coleus and send
them to a friend or
relative. You
may also create and save a
Wish List. You may sign
in to your account at a
later time and view or
edit your
wish list and move items
into your shopping cart
when you are ready to
order.
Complete
your order: Pick
a ship date and enter
your credit card
information. You will
receive an email
confirmation of your
order. Your credit card
will not be charged
until the week before your order
ships. We will notify
you via e-mail when your
order is shipped so you
will know to watch for the
package.

it not secure. Our online shopping cart is the only safe
and secure way to send credit card information
electronically.
In all of the above cases it is important that we have
your email address so we can send you a

Shipping Dates:
We ship on Saturday, Monday or Tuesday of each
week of the shipping season, with exceptions for postal holidays.
Please request a shipping date on your order. We will
try to meet your chosen date, but your requested
shipping date may be delayed if your plants are not
mature enough to ship or if weather prohibits shipping. You will be
notified by email when your order ships.
Please order at any time, as we are happy to hold your plants until your requested ship date
or until weather permits shipping. Please
consider vacations, etc. when requesting your ship date. If you cannot be
home when your plants arrive please arrange for someone to watch for your plants
or instruct the mail carrier as to a safe place to place
the box until you arrive.
Our shipping season begins the last week of March,
weather permitting. We reserve the right to
use our discretion when deciding if it is safe to ship
Coleus, and we consider the weather both at departure
and arrival when making this determination. It is absolutely crucial for the
survival of cold-sensitive Coleus to wait until the weather is safe.
We will delay shipping when
weather of any kind (hot, cold, hurricane) could threaten the safety of your
plants at any point during the shipping process. Please keep in mind that
our greenhouse operation is in Michigan, so no matter
how warm it is where you live, in March and sometimes
beyond we are often under several inches of snow and
experiencing freezing temperatures.
The last ship date is the first week of June. Summer heat dictates that we
can no
longer grow or ship coleus safely beyond that point.
After we close for the season, all coleus in the catalog will
be listed as out-of-stock until our new online
catalog is released and ordering begins on December 1.
Please Order Early!
Early ordering will be your best bet for
receiving every coleus you want and when you want them. Early orders will be
held in reserve, but orders placed late in the season
will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Certain varieties
may sell out and will be removed from the catalog for
the season, and later orders may have to be
delayed
until new stock is mature and ready to ship. We can only
accept the amount of orders that we can handle per week,
and we will close a ship date when it has filled to
capacity.
Add-ons:
You may
email us to add to your
order up 3 days before we ship your order! Please email us for availability of your add-on plants,
as some varieties may be out of stock as the shipping
season comes to a close. In early June we clear out our
remaining stock and close our greenhouse operation for
the year.
How We Ship Your Order: Your plants will be
individually labeled, bagged, protected in a cardboard sleeve, and carefully
packed in a cardboard shipping box.
We use U.S. Postal Service Priority Mail for mailing all live plants.
We find US Priority Mail to be the most economical way to ship from this area,
and we have based our prices accordingly. If a customer requests United Parcel
Service (UPS) a $10.00
surcharge will apply in addition to the regular handling charge of $12.00. Orders will be mailed on Saturday, Monday or Tuesday to assure safe arrival before the
next
weekend.
Plants will be shipped when weather permits in Michigan, usually
beginning in late March through the first weekend in June.
When Your Plants Arrive:
Your plants will be carefully packed to assure their arrival in the best
possible condition. We guarantee replacement of plants damaged during shipping
and up to the point of delivery to the address specified
on your order form. Unpack your plants immediately and read the enclosed
instructions and follow them closely. Arrival
instructions are also on the Coleus Care page of this website. Please notify us immediately of
any problems noticed upon
arrival. Please notify us if you have not received your plants within four
days of the shipping notice.
Rosy Dawn Gardens is not responsible for any damage to plants after they have
arrived at your home in good condition. Damage to your plants or dissatisfaction
with your order must be reported within 72 hours of
delivery to your home or post office. Rosy Dawn Gardens
is not responsible for damage or dissatisfaction reported beyond 72 hours
after receipt.
This includes:
Damage caused by the shipping box being subjected to
sun or cold temperatures after delivery.
Damage due to delays caused by supplying Rosy Dawn
Gardens with the wrong mailing address.
Damage caused by not promptly picking up packages held
at the post office.
Damage caused by
not promptly unpacking, watering, and planting
newly-arrived coleus.
Damage caused by plants being allowed to dry out before
or after planting in their permanent containers or
garden bed.
Plant death or damage due to circumstances occurring
after safe delivery and beyond the control of Rosy Dawn
Gardens. This includes cold temperatures, hot
temperatures, frost, dehydration (drying out),
intentional or accidental neglect, animal damage,
animals eating plants, animals urinating on plants,
animals uprooting plants, wind, too much sun or shade,
over-watering, over-fertilizing, poor site placement,
crushing, driving on plants, theft, herbicides,
vandalism, active and inquisitive children, drunken
neighbors, not checking the "other" porch for your
package, never actually planting your coleus in soil,
and any other condition that Rosy Dawn Gardens cannot
possibly control once your coleus arrive at your home.
Please Note:
Your new coleus have spent their whole
life in a greenhouse, so please water your new plants, plant them in soil, and keep them in a warm
area protected from direct wind and sun until they have hardened off. The
plants we sell are sensitive to cold, and should not be planted
outdoors until after danger of frost and average overnight lows are at least 60 degrees. When
planting in areas that receive a lot of sun or wind,
make sure that your coleus have a root system that is
well-developed. The coleus we ship are starter plants,
and the root-balls they arrive with might not be able to
provide the coleus with enough water to survive extreme
conditions. Your coleus may need to be potted and grown
on until their root system is more developed. Please refer to our Coleus Care
page for more detailed instructions.
